Progress & grading — app 04

Know where you are. Walk in ready.

Beltline tracks your progress and your grading prep — attendance, a technique checklist, and what’s left before your test — so you walk in knowing you’re ready, not hoping you are.

What it does

Attendance

One tap after class. Beltline counts your sessions against the goal your next grade needs, so the thing you actually control is the thing you can see. Consistency is the real curriculum.

Technique checklist

Work through your gym’s syllabus — the techniques, combos, and forms for your next grade. Mark what’s solid, what’s shaky, and what you haven’t touched.

Grading prep

See your next test as a checklist, not a mystery. Beltline shows what’s left to be ready for your prajioud, belt, or level — and what to drill this week.

The pace you need

Beltline works out how many classes a week it takes from here to hit your grading requirements — and how many techniques are still open. You find out early, not the week before.

How it works

  1. 01

Set your art and your next grade. Beltline loads a starting syllabus you can tailor to exactly what your gym tests.

  2. 02

Mark off techniques as they get solid, and check in after class to track attendance.

  3. 03

As your test approaches, Beltline shows what’s left so you and your coach know you’re ready — and you walk in calm.

Not for sale yet

Beltline is still in development.

It is built and in use, but not finished enough to put a price on. Rather than sell a rough version and patch it around you, it stays off the shelf until it earns one.

No date promised — it ships when it is good enough. Get in touch if you want to hear when it does.

Questions

Does it know my gym’s syllabus?+

You can tailor the checklist to exactly what your gym tests. Beltline gives you a sensible starting point for Muay Thai and boxing, and you edit it to match your coach’s curriculum.

Is this a substitute for my coach?+

No. Your coach decides when you’re ready to grade — always. Beltline just helps you and them see your preparation clearly so there are no surprises on test day.

Where does my data live?+

On your device. Beltline is local-first — your attendance and progress stay on your phone. No account, no server, nothing sold.

What does it cost?+

Nothing — Beltline is free, the whole app. Open it in your browser and add it to your home screen; it works offline, no account. Try the live demo above first if you like.

The evidence

What the tracking is built on

Beltline tracks attendance first and frames how you drill — both choices come straight from how skill is actually built.

Showing up consistently is the foundation nothing outranks — the bottom rung of the ladder. It’s also the variable most under your control, which is why attendance is what Beltline counts first. (Framework synthesis — labelled as such, not dressed up as a trial.)

C · PracticeNo published trial — coaching / expert guidance.

When you drill, rotate between a few techniques rather than blocking one at a time. Interleaved practice is harder in the room but improves retention and transfer.

B · Moderate
The evidence
  • Shea & Morgan (1979). Contextual interference effects on the acquisition, retention, and transfer of a motor skill. Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Learning and Memory, 5(2), 179–187.

Keep an external focus — on the target and effect rather than your own limbs. It reliably improves motor learning and performance.

A · Strong
The evidence

Tiers mark how strong the evidence is — A (meta-analyses / RCTs), B (emerging), C (coaching practice, labelled, never dressed up as proven). The full method and bibliography live on the studio’s method page.
